Acceptance. . .

Someone told me (in a not so nice way) that it was stupid to be both a makeup artist and a lawyer.  I think it’s stupid to not be nice to people.  It’s people who say things like that that make me want to be the best I can be – at both my jobs.  So this morning, I took a deposition with a blue smokey eye using the Urban Decay Gwen Stefani Palette, and my beloved KatVonD Shade & Light Palettes. More to come on that at a later date.  LOVE.

I felt compelled to write this today, because there are always going to be people in life that tell you what you’re doing is wrong or stupid.  Not everyone is a fan of makeup. I get it.  Okay, I don’t.  But anyway. . . I’ve come to learn that most of what people say to you, or about you, doesn’t have anything to do with you.  It’s about them, and a projection of their own reality.  Maybe this person was just having a bad day, week or month. . . Maybe I’m reading into all of this a little too much.  It doesn’t really matter. All I know is that I really love being BOTH a lawyer and makeup artist – AND that I really liked my makeup today. I know – I’m deep as a puddle.

I had a friend who was really good at summing up life into quotes and analogies. One of my favorites was “What Susie says about Sally, says more about Susie than it does Sally.” So I guess my point in all of this is: when in doubt, wear the bright lipstick. Rock the smokey eye.  Because people will always talk about you.  You might as well give them something to talk about. <3
