Drugstore Eyeshadow Palettes. . .

I don’t discriminate when it comes to makeup.  If it’s good, it’s good.  I don’t care if it has a designer label, or I got it for a dollar at the drugstore.  I LOVE drugstore makeup and when I find a gem, it makes me happy.  I’m simple.  I know.  I’ve been on a eyeshadow palette kick lately.  $10 for a palette of shadows?  Sold.  I recently picked up a couple of palettes at Walgreens and CVS.  One is a definitely hit.  The other. . .eh.  It’s not BAD. But it could be better.

No7 Mini Eye Palette

I got this on a trip to Chicago at the most GIANT Walgreens I’ve ever seen in my life.  It was a makeup lovers dream.  There was so much to choose from that I didn’t even know where to start.  I decided to be adventurous and try a brand I’ve never tried before.  The rest as they say. . .is history. (Too dramatic? Okay.  Moving on. . . ) No7 is a UK based brand.  Their products are apparently sold at Walgreens, and I’ve also seen them at Target.  For some reason, I don’t really see this available anywhere online.  It is available here for $43.00 if you really want it, but I’d pass and check your local Walgreens.  You never know what you’ll find.

The colors are so so pretty.  They’re neutral and diverse enough that you can basically create any look.  There is a nice mix of matte and shimmery shades.  The shadows themselves are a bit powdery and not as pigmented as they could be.  When applied they were a bit patchy, but with a little blending I was able to achieve a look that I really liked.  Like I said – not bad for $10, just not AMAZING.

The e.l.f. Prism Shadow Palette (Sunset)

This palette on the other hand, is definitely one of my favorites.  The colors are so creamy, pigmented and just gorgeous.  I got it at CVS on a whim.  SO happy I did.  All of the shades are definitely shimmery.  If you are looking for a matte palette, this probably isn’t for you.  There is also a more neutral palette (Naked), but I opted for the cool toned/pinky shades.

I’ve been wearing it the past few days, and have been happy with it every time.  TIP: use a wet brush for even more intensity.

I was having a terrible hair day in this pic, but it was fine because my eyeshadow was so pretty.  Also, I was wearing a bronzer that I ended up returning because it turned me ORANGE. (Can you say OOMPA LOOMPA?) It was bad.  We’ll leave that for another day.

Has anyone tried these? What’s your favorite drugstore palette? I want to know!
