Irresistible Me. . .

DISCLAIMER: Okay, let me start out by saying that I was contacted by Irresistible Me and asked if I would like to try out their hair extensions.  I was given the hair, but was not paid or given any compensation in exchange for a positive review.  All opinions are my own, and I tell it like it is.  Obviously.  I had to get that out there because I feel like in the world of blogging/social media, you’re not quite sure what to believe.  Do people actually LOVE products, or just love that they are free, or the $ that comes with branding and advertising?  It’s hard to tell.  I have no reason to exaggerate or lie about anything – love it/hate it, I’ll tell you. Now that that’s out of the way. . .back to the hair.

I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with hair extensions.  I’ve had them on and off for several years.  I didn’t find the maintenance that bad.  The worst part is really the time it takes to put them in (hours and HOURS) and the sticker shock each time you get them done (that’ll be $1000, please. . .) Okay.  I take that back – I never paid $1000 for hair, but that’s only because my friend is a hairdresser and gives me a hefty discount. (It’s still not cheap. . .) Like anything else, you get what you pay for.  If you can’t afford to get it done right, just don’t do it.  No need to look like you have doll hair. Not to mention the damage it can cause to your real hair if they’re not done properly.  No one wants that.  NO one.

The next best alternative is clip in extensions.  Enter: Irresistible Me.  The good thing about clip in extensions is that you can take them in and out of your hair when you want, and not have to worry about damage to your real hair.  They’re also a lot cheaper, and assuming you take good care of them, you can reuse them as many times as you want.  The hardest part is matching the color to your natural hair and picking the length and density that is appropriate for you.  The website and pictures are pretty accurate, and there are guides that help in picking the length.   I tend to be more conservative, and would rather have it be a bit shorter than look ridiculous.  That’s just me.  And hey – if that’s the look you’re going for – all the more power to you.  No judgment.

I eventually chose the Silky Touch Hair in Silky Ash Blonde #10 in 18 inches and 140g.  They come in 14, 16, 18, 20, 22 and 24 inches, and 100g, 140g and 200g.

They arrived in my office nicely packaged and ready to wear. In the set I received, there are 10 different pieces in various sizes to fit around your entire head.  TIP: If you’re a complete beginner, I recommend having someone put them in for you – or going somewhere like Drybar and getting your hair styled. They will also put the hair in for you, for an extra fee.  This is especially nice if you’re going to an event or party.  Hair extensions in general are kind of a pain to put in.  I would watch some videos on how to put them in yourself, or if you don’t want to pay/splurge – have a friend help you. NOTE: I should have taken pictures from the back – it’s really hard to do that yourself.  I promise, they blended really nice and looked really good from behind.  Let’s be honest, nothing is ever going to look 100% completely like your own real hair.  Also, sorry about the crap lighting.  Late night bathroom photo shoot.  Good times.

I received them several weeks ago, but wanted to make sure I used and played with them enough to give an accurate review.  The verdict: If you’re looking for a set of nice hair extensions that look and feel natural (as natural as fake hair clipped to you head can be) give these a try.  They match and blend in with my hair almost perfectly and style great. Using a curling iron on them is not an issue.  The quality of the hair is nice, (100% natural remy hair) and I’ve really been enjoying them.  When I feel like I need a little extra hair in my life – I’ll definitely be putting these in.  The prices start at $37, so you can experiment and not feel like you’re making a down payment on a house.  If you do give these a try, let me know.  I want to know what you think!

Happy 2016!
